My feelings around this book are complicated, I note that Helen Garner is quoted on the front and I feel like this book is very similar to the Second Stone. This book also oscillates from great writing to terrible writing, which leaves the reader feeling whiplashed. The conversations it sparks around consent, power, and story telling are all very important however I do feel they get lost in poor writing and one dimensional characters. I will say as a younger Australian, I do love the language used, it feels relatable and current.
