Holy Crap this was so good.
I had so much fun reading this story and the characters were unique, filled with their own life and voice. The "magic" system did remind me of some aspects of Full Metal Alchemist but with its own fun twist. While I am not typically a fan of historical fiction, even alternative historical fiction, this was fresh, tense, and full of enough intrigue to keep me guessing and on my toes.
Kylie Lee Baker has knocked it out of the park with her new series. I think my favorite thing about Kylie as an author is she takes themes of death and twists in a new light. There is life in death and in the ever after.
