A Race Around the World: The True Story of Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Bisland by Caroline Starr Rose

4.0

When I learned about this book, it was the first time that I had ever heard that Nellie Bly had competition. I thought this was fascinating, and about a month ago, I suggested this book for purchase at my library. My hold request arrived today, and I'm excited for other readers in my county to enjoy this book as well. The text and illustrations convey the dual storyline in an engaging way, building suspense about different setbacks and the women's struggles and adventures towards achieving the same goal. This is a great nonfiction picture book about a little-known aspect of a legendary part of history, and I would definitely recommend it.
