Wowow, where do I even begin? I ended up DNF-ing this book around 45% because I truly didn't like anything about this book.
The main character was honestly a huge bitch. I disliked Clara so much, which definitely made it hard for me to immerse myself into the novel. I almost feel as though Goo forgot who the bully in the book was supposed to be. Every time Clara's enemy, Rose, put Clara in her place I was glad.
Clara's mom is an Instagram influencer. I understand wanted to keep the writing modern and connecting with the audience but come on. There's even an instance in the book where the main character refers to something as "#goals" hashtag and all, and there was the line "literally opposite of my brand." I mean, did a high schooler write this?
I was so unattached to this story and unfortunately, I don't think I'll be reading anything else by Maurene Goo.
