It was fine, but also really annoying to read. The translation style doesn't do it for me - I do wonder what the original is like! The main character is obnoxious and there's some standard "in love with someone not interested in me but I'll keep trying" tropes. The setting of a Japanese mountainside with close communion with the trees was interesting, but overall I was bored and it felt a lot longer than 200 pages.
