Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume

5.0

A fun book to read aloud to my son, although more details than expected had to be explained along the way. Since we currently reside in a suburb, the concept of living smack dab in the middle of a huge city is quite foreign to him, which led to defining terms like doormen, pollution and mugging. The book is also very much a product of its 70's publication date, featuring formerly commonplace things like record players and handwritten reports that are unfamiliar to today's kids. Aside from some minor characteristics, however, the story is fairly timeless and features one of the kookiest children in literature. I don't remember the other books in this series as fondly, but I'm sure we'll get to them eventually given the strong impression that Fudge made on my child.
