While I'm familiar with K Bromberg's books, I haven't read any of the Everyday Heroes stories. But that didn't stop me from checking out the books in this world. With that said, this book is a standalone. Whatever references were made to K's books were explained and/or expertly weaved into this story.

This book checked a bunch of my favorite topics...secret baby, friends to lovers, and second chances with a happily ever after ending. Sabrina, Callie, and Spencer have been best friends since they were kids. Except Callie bowed out of the shenanigans Sabrina and Spencer got themselves into. My heart broke into a thousand pieces at the level of loss Sabrina experienced in a relatively short period of time. And Spencer was always there. Late, but there. I truly thought that after that one night, Sabrina and Spencer would move their relationship to the next level, but life isn't as cut and dried as that. He was feeling all kinds of guilt unrelated to what they did. For friends who talked about everything, they sure forgot how to be honest and frank with each other. But I get why. It was all these different, broken pieces of each other that needed to be cobbled together by the both of them to have them live the fairy tale. Like the characters, their story broke me and then pieced me back together.

I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.
