Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender

4.0

I am still battling between three and four stars, but the ending was quite good, so I guess four stars is fair!

Felix Love has never been in love. And he definitely knows the irony. Felix is proud of his identity, but he is scared that being black, transgender and queer is way too much to ever get his sweet romance. An anonymous student begins sending him transphobic messages and reveals his deadname and pictures before he transitioned to the whole school. While trying to find out who the person behind all of this is, Felix tries to figure out his identity, falls in love and realizes what he is worth!

I think it was important to see someone who has known their identity for some time and has taken (if I am correct) testosterone for quite some time, struggling with their identity. I do not mean that I enjoyed Felix struggling, but I think that is something that is often forgotten about and it is important to remember that is is alright!! I also really enjoyed seeing Ezra not labeling his sexuality! The conversation surrounding that was wonderful and it is so so so important to remember that you are worthy of love even if you do not want to put yourself into a box!

I think this book had great and complex representation!
