Death of an Outsider by M.C. Beaton

4.0

Hamish Macbeth is back in a truly gruesome mystery which takes him out of his sleepy hamlet to a different, even sleepier hamlet as he fills in for a vacationing policeman. When a thoroughly unlikable man is killed in a vicious manner, it's up to Hamish to gain the trust of the cranky villagers so he can find the killer. It's a good story which really kept me guessing!
