There were exactly two things I didn't like about this book: something small about the ending, and I just do not like Abby Jimenez's writing style. But literally everything else was incredible.
To quickly clarify my dislikes: Jimenez is just a very cheesy writer. Everyone has little catch phrases and make dumb comments. And I am convinced she has never read an Am I the A*hole post ever because the side tangents in Justin's post were just not realistic to the format. But I came to love the characters and be drawn into the story despite the complaints I have about the writing style. But also Minnesota is a huge state, and I definitely rolled my eyes at the way it was talked about like a monolith. "Come to Minnesota" is not specific enough!
As for the end,I understand doing a HEA and was really happy for the characters, but I just didn't love how quickly Justin accepted Emma back, especially with the very valid concerns around his family. Six months of therapy doesn't feel like enough. She would definitely not be moving back in with me that quickly. I just wanted more long-term work. Dating, but also still working on their own things for a little while.
But literally everything else was incredible. The characters are all complex and believably flawed. I could see the outline of what would cause various falling outs from the beginning, and I wasn't disappointed when the characters acted poorly because it made sense. It was amazing to see the growth they all went through, and I was crying several times throughout. A wonderful book, and I will be going back to read the rest of the series.
