"Her Royal Highness" is a sweet, sapphic YA pick. At times cliche and vague with its plot details, the charm of this novel outweighs the few negatives. Witty characters, soft writing, and positive queer representation are the standout qualities of this book. Finally, an LGBT YA novel that does not focus solely on the gripe of coming out. "Her Royal Highness" instead pulls you in with its commitment to affection and realistic depictions of teenage life. Bonus: the setting of Scotland makes for a beautifully romantic backdrop, setting up a trend of rich visual descriptions which characterize this fun, punchy love story.
