Mortal Gods by Kendare Blake

5.0

We'll give it 4.5, and a bonus because I love Kendare Blake's writing. While I liked the first book better, I had a great time reading it and definitely didn't see some of the twists coming. The story was a little slower but filled with a lot of character development and new characters like Ares, whose character took a turn that I wasn't expecting. There was a lot more romance and some great moments between Hermes and Athena. I really liked Cassandra in the previous book, but in this one she drove me crazy with her anger. I get that she doesn't like the gods and is angry at Athena, but it was almost too much. The action scenes were great, the horror was creepy and unique, and the ending was insane. So in the end, this sequel was intense and broody and angsty and romantic, and will lead to one hell of a climax. Can't wait to read it!
