Summertime All the Cats Are Bored by Philippe Georget

4.0

Translated from French, this is mystery noir that works.

In a resort town, a Dutch woman on vacation is murdered on the beach. Detectives Gilles Sebag and Jacques Molina are investigating the disappearance of a cab driver, and a missing woman, who also turns out to be Dutch.

The weather is oppressively hot, and the detectives struggle to bring the ends together. Sebag is also worried that his wife is having an affair, and that his children don't need him anymore.

Writing is great, and many characters get a chance at guiding us through the mystery.
