The Masks and The Dancer by Bea Paige

dark emotional sad tense medium-paced

2.0

This is my review for the first and second book. I really didn’t like book one and I have no idea what compelled me to read book two. That cliff hanger must have got me good. I am really surprised I didn’t DNF book one. The author did give a fair warning at the beginning, but somehow I didn’t realize there would be so much sexual assault and torture. It just wasn’t for me. Book two was better in the sense that the 3 psychotic dudes were slowly seeing the light and had little redemption arcs. I mostly liked the second book better because of the friendships the MC made and not so much for the romance. The writing and dialogue was poor and at times very cheesy. I laughed out loud a few times during serious moments because of what was being said. Book one gets 1 star and book two gets 2 stars. If you do read these books, just know they are super R rated and TWs galore.
