Bite sized fun. It’s not for everyone obviously and I don’t read a ton of extreme horror myself (mainly due too many feeling gimmicky), but I enjoyed it. I appreciate that Volpe doesn’t rely on shock value and there’s an art to his presentation. Yes, there’s gore, but it’s not gore for the sake of it’s presence.
I did have some questions throughout that I was bummed were never answered and felt there could be at least a few chapters more. I genuinely wanted the story to continue, which says a lot considering the content and just how easy it would have been to dump graphic scenes on a page and call it a day.
The story could have benefited from some more depth and editing, but I found it pretty fast paced and engaging. Any areas of repetition or lack of editing weren’t enough to pull me out of the story or throw me off.
