Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo
5.0
A great ending for a great trilogy. I hated that it was ending but I couldn’t put it down, as with every book so far that I’ve read in the grishaverse. A lot of the problems that I had with the other books were resolved in this book. The story flowed well and even at unexpected turns it still made sense (which a lot of books fail to do).
It introduced new characters and added more to previously introduced characters. Nikolai was a joy to read and so was Genya. Zoya and David were expanded on and I can’t wait to read about more of them in King of Scars. A problem of mine was always Alina, I felt like she was a shaky main character but I feel like I’m Ruin and Rising her character finally made sense and I liked what Leigh Bardugo did with her arc.
Mainly, I think this book finally answers questions that might have been asked throughout the trilogy and wrapped up Alina’s story nice. It also did a good job on making the characters that are going to be in the King of Scars duology actual characters and not just background characters.
To put it simply, I loved this book and this trilogy.
