Trick Mirror: Reflections on Self-Delusion by Jia Tolentino

4.0

I put 61 post-its in this book, and I’m sure I'll find more nuggets to save the next time I read it. A few of the essays ran a bit long, but overall this was one of the best collections I've read because it put a name to so much of what it feels like to grow up in this age run by technology and self delusion.

My favorites, according to the post-it notes left in each essay:

The Story of a Generation in Seven Scams (13)

We Come from Old Virginia (10)

      Ecstacy (9)

      I Thee Dread (8)

      Always Be Optimizing (7)

The I in the Internet (5)

      Pure Heroines (4)

The Cult of the Difficult Woman (3)

      Reality TV Me (2)
