Sleigh Spells by Bella Falls

Can I give a book negative stars?

I started this one because I needed easy quick audiobooks to listen to while cleaning and the other ones I listened to in this series (by different authors) were ok. My standards for books to clean to are pretty low. It just needs to be entertaining enough that I keep listening but not so interesting that I can't concentrate on other tasks.

I found myself avoiding the book, and therefore avoiding cleaning. And when I did listen to it, I found that I couldn't focus on it, which led me to focus on chores which bored me pretty quickly.

I should have quit the book, but I didn't. I guess because Christmas and because I already read some of the other books in the series. I just felt like I had to stick it out.

It was torture, y'all. The were-bear and the uhhh... implications (he says on a few occasions that he and the bear within him are separate but they are both attracted to the heroine? Ew.), the Mary Sue heroine, the obvious villain. It was All. SO. BAD.

I found myself gagging. Actually physically gagging. I gagged so hard at one point (I think when Wyatt said something like "Me and my bear want to kiss you") that I hurt my throat.

The only thing I liked was the squirrel.

I realized too late that I have read Bella Falls before and hated that book with a passion as well, so lesson learned.

I have decoded to take a break from Christmas audiobooks for awhile, so thank you Bella Falls for destroying my Christmas spirit.
