i know it was written in 1942, and i know it’s for kids, but i despise that the over arching theme of this book is teaching kids to be neither seen or heard, and always be little angels, and that money fixes everything. wanted to read abt gold ingots and adventure and instead feel like im going to be saying “oh mother you are a brick!” when she says that i don’t have to be quiet because my father isn’t working
