This is my second or third reread of the series so clearly I love it with my whole heart. It’s my first run with the audiobooks and I love the narrator! He does a fantastic job with the characters and conveying the story. Overall I do find the second one to be the slowest one in the series and just falls a little flat for me. It’s also a real turn from how book one ends to where this one begins and I feel like it’s got the vibe that carry on was maybe originally supposed to be a standalone that got picked up into a series. It has great setup for the next book and I do find the next book more enjoyable than this one. I just feel like this book could’ve been better or shorter or maybe longer. I think it has a very realistic perspective to the story of these three supposed to be hero’s and chosen ones and villains and what happens afterwords but it felt very all over the place and almost tedious at times. However it had great moments and there’s a lot of little hints and foreshadowing that happens and it makes very interesting and unique. And also I love the addition of Shepard to the storyline he adds some real fun. And Agatha just gets so much more personality in this one. All of them do. Character development is in the happenings for everyone. Overall I do love the series but this book is just slower paced for my liking.
