When I started this book I did feel a bit disoriented because I have not read the previous series set in this world. It did say you can read it if you haven’t read them but I felt it would have been better if I had read them first. It made it a bit hard for me to get into the book.
It took me a while to feel connected to these characters- except for Lik, I loved him right away- I honestly didn’t find Sam and Rose all that likeable, but as the story went on I did get more invested in them and their story.
I also enjoyed the spicy scenes in this book. They definitely kept me motivated to keep reading!
Overall this was a decent read and by the end I did feel that I will read the next book in the duet but in my opinion I would recommend reading the other books in this world first.
