When the most annoying person you know is actually right about something! This book did not have me in the first half, but I came to be transfixed in the second half. It was like Hendrix turned on a switch that immediately saturated the plot with higher stakes and increased intrigue, suddenly pulling the reader in much deeper and making them question what is objective and what is delusion, who can be trusted and who is playing games. Not knowing what was going on and figuring it out as Lynnette did was riveting, and the reveal at the end made so much sense but was still such a surprise to me. I loved the aspects of found family, rising to the occasion, and self-reckoning explored in this book. A good spooky read!
