Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer

5.0

I picked this up thinking it was going to be a bit fluffy. (The cover blurb is by the author of Eat, Pray, Love, after all.) Instead it was exacting reading, chapter at chapter. For me, the three strands are science, Indigenous folkways, and storytelling, and the author does a fine job weaving them together. It's important to read books like this that challenge the ways you think and the institutions you participate in. Hard to know what to do now, but I think Robin Wall Kimmerer would say to start where you are and at least do something.
