'Tis [Abridged] by Frank McCourt

challenging emotional funny lighthearted reflective sad

5.0

It's official. I adore Frank McCourt. I could listen to him talk for hours. His sarcastic cadence is unmatched. I listened to Angela's Ashes last year and have had this along with Teacher Man on my list ever since. I loved AA, and I think I liked this one even better. Possibly because this one was far less sad, but I also appreciated that he focused more and his own life and experience instead of his parents'. I loved the parts about redeveloping his relationship with his parents as an adult. Most of all, though, I loved the stories that led to his teaching career and listening to him lovingly mock his students with all the joy a teacher should have when discussing The Odyssey with teenagers. After finishing this book, I'm looking forward to Teacher Man even more than I was before!
