Official Book Club Selection: A Memoir According to Kathy Griffin by Kathy Griffin

4.0

I remember recommending this book to someone and getting a totally negative reaction because they thought Kathy Griffin was broad comedy. Personally, I always found her ok/enjoyable as a comedian but reading this book I really admired her. She is not afraid to speak her mind or name names. I know the celebrity stuff is in the book to sell copies but she's never inappropriate, just shares honest experiences. There are times when she comes off sort of... self-centered? I guess. I.e. thinking that Spielberg has carried a huge vendetta over a comment she made or the Steve Martin story where he just wasn't talkative and she makes it like it's a personal huge slight... Maybe it was, but she leaves out the fact that before the break, the story she told was about how she went to his house and left notes before she was famous, which... awkward. But overall I really enjoyed it!
