Mansfield Park by Jane Austen, Jane Stabler

3.0

My tolerance for Jane Austen is about one novel every 5 years. It's been about that long since I read Emma, so I thought I'd give Mansfield Park a go. Maybe I just wasn't ready yet, but it was a chore to get through this novel. It's over done and the characterizations are particularly heavy handed. Austen doesn't give readers the liberty (the respect?) to form their own opinions about her characters, but instead tells us exactly what to think and reiterates it at every opportune moment.
