Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling
0.5
There are so few aspects of this book that are redeemable. Rowling proves once again she can't write her way out of a paper bag. Seven hundred pages, and for what? Her books are a complete waste of time and paper. This whole series is a piece of work, but this book in particular has horrible lessons, features downright mean characters with flat personalities, laughable plotting, and has some of the worst depictions of women and girls I've ever read in a book series that fans and critics alike have touted as 'feminist'. A female (side) main character and a female author does not a feminist book series make. In fact, I'd go as far as to say this book and its series are actively anti-feminist, and if Rowling was a male author, absolutely no one would claim she is a feminist. It boggles the mind how this book series became so mind-bendingly popular. (I've got my theories, but I'll save that for another review.)
I could go on, but I am so ecstatic to get this book out of my life that I want to stop thinking about it as soon as possible. Wife and I will need to have a few mind-bleach reads to get that book out of our heads. ASOIAF, anyone?

Warning: This book is way worse than you remember, and all the good parts you're thinking of have been put there in your head by the movie and its wonderful actors who gave phenomenal performances and have done absolutely ALL the heavy lifting for this godawful story.
