The Eye of the Beholder: Deformity and Disability in the Graeco-Roman World by Robert Garland

3.0

3.5 stars. Though Garland is as always a pleasure to read, and his goals here are admirable, even this second edition cannot escape certain outdated attitudes and a failure to engage with the field of disability studies. More work must be done in this area by classicists.
