The Mummy Case by Elizabeth Peters

3.0

We picked this book for my book club on a library book club recommendation. It reads fine as a stand alone, and I didn't really feel that I missed anything without the first two books. That being said, I didn't love the story, but I adored the dialogue. The dialogue made me laugh out loud, and I just loved their son Ramses. The story was just ok, and sometimes hard to follow.

Amelia and Emerson are about to go on a dig in Egypt, and normally they leave their son behind, but this time, he can't stay with his aunt and uncle so he comes with. He is precocious, smart, and at times very literal (when it benefits him) and so much fun to read about. While in Egypt, one of the dealers they visited in Cairo was murdered and the crimes followed them to the dig site, where both of them had different ideas on how to solve the crime.

As I said, the dialogue is just delightful and worth reading the book for. Most of the rest of it was just ok.
