Interesting read! I find the magic system and the set up of the ‘other world’ quite fascinating. Even if they’re not fully elaborated on.

For some reason I had a really hard time picturing anything in this book. Especially the environment. I’m not sure why because I was fully focused when reading. It was just extra hard to follow the description in the writing and picturing it in my head. Something was not connecting but I don’t think it hinders the reading experience that much. Most of the time I was just going with the flow, treating the narrative like a magical realism type of thing. And that was all good.

I wish we delved more into Adam and Perak
/Silver’s
past more in this book. It felt as though we’re rushing through the whole Adam and Vic thing too. But I understand why there wasn’t a lot more conversation about relationships when things were dire and the situation is getting worse by the day.

I also wished we learned more about Annie and maybe read from her perspective even. Throughout the story she felt a lot like just a plot device and not an actual character. All we know about her is the idea of her from Bobby and Adam. There doesn’t seem to be anything beyond that despite her being such a huge driving force of the story. And then she just
died like that and tells Bobby to live on for her.
I wish she could’ve at least have a monologue before
sending Bobby off.
She has gone through so much hardship, yet all we know of her is her pain and a vague image of her being completely carefree and happy go lucky before that pain.
