The Book Itch: Freedom, Truth & Harlem's Greatest Bookstore by Vaunda Micheaux Nelson

4.0

A picture book story of what was apparently and absolutely phenomenal bookstore now long gone. The art is not quite to my usual taste, but it's really well done - kind of painting takes on pseudo phot o realistic - moody but kind of beautiful and adds much to the text. The text is well written. A lot of words for a picture book, but still not too many. A pretty good historical note as well. It's been awhile since I chased down every bookstore everywhere I could fine. Having no real room for more books takes out some of the desire. But book places are still places, and this one seemed to be a part of history as well.
