The Honest Truth About Dishonesty: How We Lie to Everyone - Especially Ourselves by Dan Ariely

2.0

A typical work for Ariely. If you like his other books, TED talks, etc... there is much to like here - but though enlightening, I found the book to be a bit shallow. I understand the need to keep things simple - this is a pop science book after all - but still wish he'd give just a little more data.

The book contains ample insights about honesty from interesting studies Dan and his colleagues have undertaken - but no hard statistical data is given. Thus, the book forces you to take the author at his word.

Edit: late to find out, but not only is Ariely's science dubiously executed - he actually lied about his data completely. Maybe it's all a larger experiment about dishonesty in "science".
