Woom by Duncan Ralston

I read Woom by Duncan Ralston in a little over 2 hours. I would describe it as a short, simple comedy with gore maybe even a gory fantasy comedy not an extreme horror.
I could see this book as Scary Movie 109 (or however many they have) starring Damon Wayans and Anna Faris (in a bigger body suit obviously). The only reason this is a 3 star rated book is because I was entertained and giggled entirely too much but if you're looking for a horror book that scares you this is not the one. This was not the finest written novella, but I don't require my books to be literature in order to enjoy them. I know some people have triggers so make sure you check the warnings, but for someone that has read some great splatter punk novels this book was not difficult at all. I actually had a lot of empathy for the main characters. When I wasn't laughing at the ridiculousness, I was sad for the two people we get to know. The concept of the story line was fantastic, a motel room that holds onto the bad things and breathes them into people, but the execution was lacking IMO. This book is also very predictable, before you are at the halfway point you know the purpose of the stories and what the MMC's ultimate goal is.

I wonder about the authors ability to google female anatomy and cats reproductive cycle.
1. The old male cat was in heat????? He rubbed himself against pillows. No sir- male cats do not go into heat they are "ready" at all times. Female cats go into heat when they are prepared to reproduce.
2. Our author has no conception of female anatomy which is expected but google does and an easy search would have helped in the area of Johnny holding a fetus that he plucked out with his fingers, and in the area of Shyla's unfortunate trachelectomy. We could have googled "can you reach your hand into a uterus" and "what entails the surgical procedure of removing the cervix". Another good one would be "Can the average human head fit (to the shoulders) into a vagina." If those things were looked up and the author still decided to write this exact novella the genre would change to fantasy.
3. I had extreme empathy for Shyla but felt the author could have written this better with more detail and feeling. The author does not write a female's perspective well.
Now what I liked:
1. Juicy and the prolapsed colon. Candy Rain made me cackle.
2. Beth and Andy, a true love story.
3. The sander to the pecker
4. the exposure of the mutilated pecker and Shyla's response. LMAO
With all that I am still glad I read this it gives me the opportunity to discuss this book with friends, although I can't think of anyone I would recommend it too.
