Anatomy: A Love Story by Dana Schwartz

3.0

the moment i saw this book in barnes and noble back in either january, february or march…i fell in love instantly. NOT JUST BECAUSE OF THE COVER (89% lying) but the synopsis?? YEAH IT HAD ME SOLDDD.

finally got it in june & read it these past two weeks & fell in loveeee….except for the ending.

going into this book, i was expecting more gothic mystery to it than it has…like sure it was THERE but it wasn’t ✨there✨. before i get into the ending, let’s talk about the characters.

HAZEL SINNETT ?? OH SHES A FORCE AND SHES AMAZING AND I LOVE HER WITH MY WHOLE HEART. the thing she did when thrupp was bothering her?? LOVEEEE. i love fierce women as protagonists and we NEED more of them.

JACK CURRER. okay first of all..the fact that he has black hair is already a win for me like come on???? HOW COULD I NOT. also i would’ve loved to hear a little more about his story, like about his childhood because he’s a great & interesting character.

AND THE BOTH OF THEM??? UMMMM “My heart is yours, Hazel Sinnett, forever beating or still”… HELLO???? SHUT THE HELL UP??? LIKE YESSS THEY HAD IT ALL AHHH

and finally, keeping this spoiler free…the ending just seemed lackluster to me. it was kinda predictable which is FINE, but i was also extremely disappointed in a character’s decision that it made me not want to enjoy the book anymore and the 4 star rating i was going to give it, ended up being 3 stars. it’s sad considering i was highly enjoying the rest of the book too but i still wouldn’t change anything. this book was so beautiful to read in terms of vivid descriptions and Hazel’s powerful actions.
