Eternal by Lisa Scottoline

4.0

I have read quite a few Scottoline titles but this one doesn't follow any of her other crime/suspense storylines. Eternal is a novel set in World War II in the Eternal City of Rome. It tells the story of 3 teens - Elisabetta, Marco, and Sandro as they grow up as best friends and then as war challenges those friendships to the depths of their core. The story is set against the backdrop of Mussolini and his terror-filled rule over Italy and then the eventual Nazi rule of Italy as well. There are so many books out there on World War II, but this one, set in Italy, is a totally eye-opening and riveting novel . It is a heart-breaking story - one that will stick with you long after you finish. I highly recommend it.
