When Women Ruled the World: Six Queens of Egypt by Kara Cooney

4.0

While reading the book I was reading it 3/5. However, the epilogue pushed my rating to a 4/5. The author summarizes why the history of women rulers is relevant to us today. Living in a majority patriarchal world blinds all of us to our cultural biases. We need to understand how strengths/weaknesses that characteristically are attributed to women can benefit the world in general, recognizing how the traditional roles of men can and have truly hurt civilization. The author intertwines current political situations to improve our understanding of the various historical situations. (I also hadn’t realized how incestuous many of the Egyptian dynasties were, wow)
