Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë

5.0

I am so happy that I’ve read this, and yet so angry at how it has been described to me previous to reading it.  This book is so much more than the (albeit toxic) romance between Jane and Mr Rochester - it is a portrait of her life in full.  We know and understand Jane for her full self, her full force, her full being.  Her existence is, and remains wholly, her own.  This is something I would have never expected to find in a novel of its time.  The writing is gorgeous and descriptive and never once did I lose interest while reading.  Jane Eyre is a character that I will continue to think about, and one that I am destined to revisit.  This was fucking cool y’all.  I am a fully converted Brönte girly for life.
