The White Rose by Amy Ewing

And yet another cliffhanger, why am I not surprised?

I never thought of Violet as weak or dependent or useless and she just proved that she was the complete opposite of that in this book. She grew into such a remarkable young lady in just a few months that its fascinating. The way she handled everything showed us just how mature she really is.

Although half of the book was basically them running away, trying to reach the Farm, and not many events or actions take place, I enjoyed how slow this story was going. I normally don't like that, but in this book, the slowness and lack of events was covered by how the characters all came together and worked together to accomplish a goal.

Spoiler

When they brought the new surrogates, I honestly didn't believe that it would work. I don't know why, but I had a feeling that not all surrogates would be able to control the elements. I was proven wrong.

I think my favorite new surrogate is Sienna. She is so fierce and I love fierce. Also, my favorite element is fire so...

The part were they said that Hazel was the stolen surrogate was so predictable. Well for me at least. The moment they said that the Duchess stole one, Hazel popped into my head. I knew the Duchess was going to do something with her. But her being pregnant the next day was a shock. How is it even possible?

Some might feel like Ash was a bit annoying, but I honestly get where he's coming from. He felt useless. When everyone had superpowers or were the leaders of a society or even members of that society and had certain jobs to do, he had nothing. He was pretty useless. Yes he had valuable information that could be used against the royalty but the person who can use that information isn't very fond of him. And when he did finally find something to help with, I don't blame him for being excited at FINALLY getting to do something other than run laps and take care of the animals.

Last thing, I believe that one of them is going to die. Someone has to die, its like an unwritten rule between authors. I have a feeling its going to be Lucien or Garnet. No not Garnet. Garnet's going to end up with Raven, its obvious. So Lucien. Or maybe one of the surrogates.

If you're a fan of a little action and adventure, a bit of romance, and of course, magic, I'd recommend this book to you.
