Ella Durran moves from Ohio to England. It has been her lifelong dream to attend Oxford and become a Rhodes Scholar. As she embarks on this dream, she is also offered a position in a rising political star’s presidential campaign. With the promise that she’ll work remotely and return to DC at the end of her Oxford year, she successfully balances both opportunities.

That is until Jamie Davenport enters her world. This smart and attractive local man shifts her plans and sweeps her off her feet. Ella was not looking for love but the connection with Jamie develops into something Ella could never have imagined. Will Ella follow her plan or follow her heart?

Let me start by saying that Julia Whelan is my favorite narrator. I have wanted to read My Oxford Year since I read her other book Thank You for Listening. I went into this book completely blind and it was an unexpected heartwarming and heartbreaking story. This is not the light rom-com I thought it would be. I had lots of feelings for Ella and Jamie’s love story.  It was a little predictable but I am glad I finally read it.
