I Love Dick, by Chris Kraus

3.0

I like the premise and execution of this book, and I appreciate the specific style the author chose to express herself with, but I can never truly get over the fact that all these characters are real people. I cant stop imagining how horrid this whole situation must have been from Dick's perspective.

Chris Kraus has a strong voice and a clear, interesting way of voicing her thoughts. The book almost feels like performance art sometimes, and that's very cool and interesting! Nevertheless it's hard to distance yourself from how odd the whole scenario is. Whenever the letters become more graphic or even threatening I cant help but worry a little. Imagine meeting someone once, getting a big box pressed into your arms a few months later, and finding that it's filled with letters upon letters directed at a strange, mental construction of you that someone made up. I guess I’d say that the book is good, but it made me a tad uncomfortable.

Also LOVED reading this on public transport.
