I've read this book when I was 14 and I remember I didn't particularly like it. However, now in my twenties I fully apreciate this book. 
I loved the strong female lead character and how there is a little bit of romance, but it isn't the main focus of the story, because Katniss clearly have much bigger worries than the boy with the bread (but Peeta is endgame material). 
The world building is great for a YA distopian book and I thought all the characters are well written. I loved reading Katniss thoughts about the injustices between different districts and social classes.
I fully recommend this book!
