It’s a fun conclusion to the books. But. There’s still some plot holes, and it feels cursory. The writing is over simplified (very telling it showing) even for middle grade. I do like some of the tie ins between the shows, movies, and books re certain characters but there are still characters that need explaining.
I like that we see them graduate but I want to know how long it’s been since movie 2. There are also pieces that don’t feel true to character or feel too easy.
She could have done so much with books, expanding the lore and the world (although the worlds are fun in the books) and the characters’ growth and relationships. We see some of all of that but not enough to be satisfying.
