Dirty Billionaires by Dori Pulitano

4.0

My review is for Dirty Halo by Simone Leigh, part of the anthology, Dirty Billionaires, releasing in May of this year.

Is it possible to meet someone in your line of work who you keep coming back to but don't necessarily understand why outside of their ability to pay well?

That is exactly the question that Saffron keeps asking herself every time she spends a night with Jaye, the son of Alex Thorton; whom is a business associate of Richard Haswell. She has long had a policy of keeping her emotions out of the mix- spend time with the men in her portfolio, get the money to survive, and repeat. When she meets Jaye at the club, she is not expecting to feel something deep down for this man, but the more time that passes, the more confused and wary she becomes of his intentions, despite the fact that he knows exactly what he wants, even if his solution to getting that is less that conventional and secure in Saffron's eyes.

This story has promise and is a fantastic introduction to both of these characters and a new facet of the world that has been built so far through other stories- it is certainly different from anything Simone has written thus far, which is refreshing to see that her writing can expand nicely outside of a BDSM world that her previous stories are in. It is a great start to what could prove to be a nice new series and I certainly can't wait to get more of Saffron and Jaye this year- the chemistry between these two is great and they both aren't afraid to call each other out and go toe to toe. It will be nice to see exactly what becomes of the two of them- if their love will develop or if the outside world will forever stand in their way and I can't wait to see what happens next for these two!
