The Confusions of Young Master Törless by Robert Musil

2.0

(4 June, 2016)

Well... this would have been better if I had read it while in my teens and not at 42. All I kept thinking was "Törless is a dumb fuck who thinks things have to 'mean something' to be worth the experience."

Törless is clueless, Beineberg is the pseudo-spiritualist who makes an ass of himself every time he opens his mouth, Reiting is the little fucker everyone loves to hate and Basini is the victim who does not see it as such. They held zero interest for me and I felt a total disconnect to the mores and sensibilities of the time.

I was never the biggest fan of macho crap so cherished by dirt-bags and assholes, my reaction to this novel is welcomed proof that things haven't changed much.
