Fun fact, the movie Christmas with the Kranks was based on a book and it turns out John Grisham wrote it?? Unfortunately, I didn't find myself liking the book any more than I liked the movie. The entire book relies on a miscommunication trope/trying to hide information and it just felt like a cop-out. Blair was absolutely old enough for her parents to say to her "well you weren't coming home, so we made other plans... sorry" and then either go ahead and go on their cruise, or pivot and do something for Christmas with her and have it be more low-key. But no, that wouldn't make a good book I guess.
