Lots of Intrigue
This fifth book in the series continues the ongoing tale of the Cauld Ane with the other Macmillan brother Niall and his fated mate Charlotte, who happens to be the best friend of Niall’s sister-in-law. The trajectory of their relationship is a slower build which is surprising given that she’s already 25 when Niall finds her. Once again the continuity of the mythology is a off as in the first three books the women were indisputably pulled to their mates immediately and in these last two books both women resisted for quite a while.
Once we finally get the main characters together the intrigue in the story begins. Warning here, this book ends on an obvious cliffhanger unlike previous books. While the main romantic relationship is solidly established the storyline re Charlotte and another character’s background is up in the air. Some pieces of the puzzle the reader will put together quickly...much more quickly than the characters in the book which makes no sense...these people aren’t idiots. Other pieces we don’t have yet. The next book is really going to have a lot of ‘splainin to do!
