A Token's Worth by S.A. Parker

A bit disturbing but I'm sticking with it til the end.

This story is very violent against women in a predatory way. Cruel and miserable. But, the tongue in cheek way Dell talks to herself makes it seem less brutal. It's kind of a weird combination and I'm unsure what to think, really. Part of the story kind of reminds me of the Curse of the Gods series, but this is much darker.

Dell is a paid lady for men's pleasure, but it's not by choice. In this rather dystopian story, women are breeders or pleasure givers and usually the pleasure is taken by force. Having lived this existence her whole life she's become rather numb, but one day she cracks. Making her way to the cliffs overlooking the sea, she speaks some ancient words her mother taught her as a prayer before jumping.

But, right before she leaps, presto potato (those are my fancy magic words), some hot dude sun gods appear. She's summoned them with her prayer and like genies they have to grant her wishes. That wasn't her intent at all, and it all gets a bit crazy and though I'm not sure I really understand what is happening in the story I'm willing to continue reading the next book because this book is weird. I like weird.

The End.
