Never Seduce a Scoundrel by Sabrina Jeffries

4.0

Pure brain candy
I read this series ages ago and didn’t remember much about it except that it made me happy. I can confirm on reread that it still makes me happy. It’s pure fluffy escapism, slightly silly but still mostly historically accurate, the heroine was strong and feisty and the hero a bit of an ass. But that’s really the point of these. The hero learns and grows because of his independent and strong love interest. These do follow a formula but that formula works. It’s a light read with some action and adventure, an entertaining plot and plenty of spice and a nice epilogue showing the characters’ happy ending. This is a great series and quintessential Sabrina Jeffries. I wish she could get back to this, as her new stuff is very meh. This is a good series for those new to historical romance, to dip a toe in. This is not a bodice ripper and has some familiar contemporary elements without being too anachronistic. I’m going to continue rereading this series as it got me out of the beginning of the book blahs, where everything was boring me. Hopefully my memory is just as faulty with the rest so I can enjoy them as if for the first time.
