The only thing keeping this book from five stars is the fact that it begins slowly. However, after about 100 pages, I found myself tearing through the pages, emotionally and physically unable to put it down. Rowland twists Kadou and Evemer together through careful manipulation of fate. <Also the power play between them is absolutely enthralling.>
