Wow, it’s been a while since I read [b:the last issue|43599626|Shazam! #4|Geoff Johns|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1553699043i/43599626._SY75_.jpg|67837183]! I keep putting it off but I shouldn’t because if any comic series I’ve read recently has been consistently great it’s Shazam!.

Here are my thoughts on this issue:
- Yes, Mary has been boring and bossy in previous issues but she’s super cool here. She’s feisty and Mary without rules is super cool.
- Backstory for Eugene. Nice!
- Dun dun dun!!
Black Adam
is here! And he’s squashed a lizard creature in the name of magic! But, wait! He’s not the only bad guy to appear! Emerging from the shadows is...
-
Dr Sivana!
And it seems he’s in league with
Mr Mind
. Can’t wait to see
Black Adam and Sivana
battle it out in the next issue.
- Man, I really wanted
King Kid
to be a good guy.
- I’m kind of disappointed that the synopsis of this issue (and the cover) suggested something would be happening in the Gamelands but really nothing does. There’s no conflict. No confrontation. Just Eugene and Pedro getting Gameland IDs and talking about racing but not actually racing yet.
- The fact that the animal court is called Kangaroo Court is a hilariously clever pun that I am very appreciative of.

Check out my review for issue #4!!
